D. Taylor: Mangrove Fanfare
Composer: Dan Taylor
Period: 21st Century
Length: c. 1 min
A short and exciting opening to any concert, written for small brass ensemble. The piece, having originally been written for a school ensemble, is fairly simply written, tending to avoid the extreme registers or overly complex rhythms. Nevertheless, it is an effective piece and satisfying both to perform and to listen to. Originally, it was written to open a Christmas carol service, however it can be performed at any time of year. Whilst it can be performed with one player to a part, it would certainly be acceptable have multiple players to a part, depending on the size and acoustic of the performance venue.
